The Only Skin Care Regimen You’ll Ever Need!

BUILDING A HEALTHY YET SIMPLE SKIN-CARE ROUTINE.

Having good skin-care products is not enough. For our products to be most effective, we need to apply them in the correct order.

A good skin-care routine solely depends upon the type of your skin, the ingredients and formulations of your product, and not to forget, but also the time of the day at which you are applying the product.

Pro tip: always apply your products in order of texture, i.e. from thinnest to thickest, because thin products would not be able to penetrate the thicker ones (SIMPLE).

Cleanser:

Get a gentle cleanser and wash your face both in the morning and at night. If you wear makeup, then make sure to double cleanse at night but first remove your makeup with cleansing oil or micellar water. While washing your face, make sure to cover all the areas and massage using gentle pressure, then rinse your face properly to ensure that not just the dirt and the grime but the cleanser has also been completely rinsed and removed. Finally, gently pat dry your face with a soft towel and never ever rub your face aggressively; that’s the worst you can do.

Toner:

Once you have completely cleansed your face, it’s time to apply the toner. Always apply the toner after the cleanser and before anything else. Use a cotton pad or simply your palms, pour in a few drops of toner and gently swipe on your face. It is necessary to note that hydrating toners can be used both during the day and at night. But exfoliating toners can be used only at night.

Serum:

The serum is to be applied after the toner. Serums with antioxidants like a vitamin C serum should be used in the morning, and moisturizing serums, such as serums with hyaluronic acid, should be used at night.

Pro tip: water-based serums are applied before moisturizers, and oil-based serums are applied after the moisturizer.

Eye Cream:

Your regular moisturizer can work as an eye cream if you apply it to your under-eye area. But, if you are using a specialized eye cream for a particular skin concern, you need to apply it underneath your moisturizer because an eye cream is usually thinner in texture than a face moisturizer.

Spot treatment:

Spot treatments can be applied in the morning too, but ideally, they should be used at night because, as the name signifies, these creams are used to treat the spots, scars and blemishes, and such treatments work the best when our body is in repair mode. Spot treatment always goes before the moisturizer, whether during the day or at night.

Moisturizer:

Moisturizers are not only used to keep your skin moisturized and hydrated, but a moisturizer also helps to lock in all other layers of the product that you have applied. A lightweight lotion is ideal for the morning, and a thicker cream can be used at night. However, those with dry skin should use a cream both in the morning and at night.

Retinoid:

Retinoids are known to be highly effective in treating various skin concerns such as dark spots, breakouts, fine lines and much more, but they can also be a little irritating, especially for those with sensitive skin. In addition, retinoids tend to break down in the sun, so by all means, make sure to use them at night, after your moisturizer.

Face Oil:

Whether you follow a 3-step quick skin-care routine or a 9-step detailed regimen, face oil always goes in the last. Apply it by the very end because no other product would be able to penetrate the face oil.

Sun Protection:

Last but certainly not least, and believe it or not, sun protection is one of the most crucial part of any skin-care regimen. Even if your moisturizer contains SPF, you still need to wear sunscreen.
